Kampmann & Co transports liquid gold

As a beverage wholesaler, Kampmann & Co supplies customers throughout Germany with golden treats. Thanks to solar cells on the roof of the vehicle fleet, they are now travelling greener

Founded in 1900, Kampmann & Co is one of the oldest beverage wholesalers in Germany. The fourth-generation family business is firmly rooted in the Ruhr region. As part of its strategy for the future, the company has now decided to equip the roofs of its tractor units with solar cells.

It all started with a restaurant

Company founder Heinz Kampmann started out in the restaurant industry. His restaurant, founded in 1900, formed the basis of today’s transport company Kampmann & Co, as he soon expanded the business to include a beer wholesaler. By 1924, Heinz Kampmann was already supplying the whole of North Rhine-Westphalia with Pilsner Urquell, Munich Löwenbräu and Bitburger.

And what happened next is history

Through skilful management and family cohesion, four generations have created a modern company with 50 employees that has been headquartered on the 17,600-square-foot Laubenhof in Essen since 2018. Since 2003, the company has been led by Robin Bartling.

Strong cooperation for a greener future

As part of steady corporate development, Kampmann & Co’s agenda also includes the path to greater CO2 neutrality. Naturally, the focus is on the company’s vehicle fleet. On the advice of the EUROPART branch in Duisburg, it was decided to install the first 240 Wp solar cell kit on one of the company’s own Mercedes-Benz Antos 2532.

Oliver Böcher from Green Energy/MIPV.pro accompanied the installation. He talked with fleet manager Kai Rosezin about the reasons for installing solar panels: “One of our biggest expenses is fuel. Here we can save a lot by installing solar cells. The data shows that we save over 500 litres per truck per year. It also extends the life of the batteries. Our drivers have better working conditions because they can power the coffee machine and microwave during their breaks without idling,” concludes Kai Rosezin. “When the test phase of the first system is completed, our entire fleet will be equipped,” he concludes.

We congratulate Kampmann & Co. GmbH on this great installation.
