The forwarding company Meyer Logistics has a vision of carbon neutrality, which they are now realising with solar cells on the roof of their trucks
For three generations the forwarding company Meyer Logistics near Düsseldorf in Germany has been an important player in the logistics business. Since 1946, when the family-run company was established, they have ensured the safe transportation of general cargo both nationally and internationally. A modern approach has ensured that the company is always future-proofed and up to date. The latest development is the installation of solar cells on one of the company’s DAF semi-trailer trucks.
A tailor-made all-in-one solution for storage and logistics
With a fleet of 110 wagons, 220 employees, and a storage area of 50.000 m2, the framework is set to offer tailor-made solutions for warehouse and logistics clients. Everything from picking and palletising to storage in the mobile shelving systems and areas for block storage. The company specialises in partial loads and has years of experience in the logistics fields of beverages and animal feed.
A top-quality fleet with equipment for comfort
Every truck in the company’s fleet is ongoingly serviced and in perfect technical condition thanks to the dedicated mechanics in the company’s garage. All environmental and safety standards are regularly monitored by inspection, which is a guarantee for an operationally reliable fleet. And comfort equipment ensures a great working environment for the drivers. Besides this, the fleet is equipped with the newest telemetric that ongoingly provides driver insight into vehicle status as well as providing the client with the current status of their shipment.
A vision for a more sustainable future
Meyer Logistics has the desire to reduce its carbon emission and better the comfort of its employees. This is one of the main reasons they have chosen to have solar cells from Green Energy/MIPV.pro installed.
Oliver Böcher from Green Energy/MIPV.pro has assisted in the installation of a 165Wp set on one of the company’s DAF XF 6 EURO semi-trailer trucks. Here he meets garage manager, Stephan Meyer-Lingen, for a talk about why they chose a solar cell solution from Green Energy/MIPV.pro. Stephan Meyer-Lingen explains: “we heard about the product through our contact in EUROPART. Our goal is to become carbon neutral and increase the comfort of the drivers. Now, this set is running in the testing phase, and in that regard, we supply data from before and after consumption for evaluation. We plan to install more sets when the testing phase has run successfully.”
We congratulate Meyer Logistics on their first solar cell set.
